    2. Tracy Garner

Those are office workers not factory workers.

    3. Tracy Garner

Denying an employee a bathroom break is an OSHA violation. Someone needs to protect these employees. This is why so we need unions. There are whistleblower protections but humans are vicious. I am sure they are still threaten.

Remember when Mitch McConnell was withholding corona virus relief funds when families were suffering, in favor of protecting large corporations that run businesses like this, Ian’s through policy insuring they hold no liability when a worker get sick or dies? When are we going to end the corporate bribes, I mean “campaign contributions” that enable greedy pigs to look out for their own interests over every one else’s?

    8. Elizabeth Ortiz

By implementing changes that benefit workers companies will shoot the prices to the consumer through the roof, making the cost of living outrageously higher for everyone because obviously, the rich will NEVER, EVER give up their precious profits. They will fight back with sacrificing EVERYONE ELSE as long as their profits remain intact. I say all those improvements to OSHA and the USDA be financed DIRECTLY by profits being made by these companies, not by the employees' unions, not by taxpayers' money, not by price spikes but directly by companies' profits and to not allow them to spike their prices nor to punish their employees for fighting for their rights to a safe workplace and don't forget, their minimum wage should be increased at the same rate as inflation and that increase should come from the company's profits; they can afford it, they make fifty billion dollars a year, I'm sure that's enough money for all this and they will have billions left to spare every year.

    9. Cy2k Cy2k

I am against FORCING people to work in such conditions. Can't they just say "oh fvck this" and walk away ?

    10. Rainydropart -Anna

This isn’t just meat plants. It’s most factories. TLDR. Wash any canned food because there’s for sure piss on it

    11. Cy2k Cy2k

They deserve to suffer and be punished for their contribution to the animal abuse and suffering.

    15. HaploidCell

This sounds exactly like the Tönnies meatpacking facility outbreak in Germany. Migrant workers who lived in company-provided housing on the premises got sick by the hundreds. It was thus the company's fault that they could not socially distance at work OR in private because those "accomodations" look like converted shipping containers with a bunch of bunk beds in them.

I’m 28 and I’ve worked in poultry production for 3 years. It’s truly disturbing looking back at how employees have been treated in this industry. Literally never able to take bathroom breaks. Tons of work injuries. Tons of horrible quality product being shipped out. FDA inspections per department maybe equal 2 minutes per month. Horrible industry. Horrible pay. Horrible benefits. Absurd turnover. Horrible management. Pathetic employee treatment and opportunities.

I often find it hard to understand why we have to create hell on Earth. If just 8% increase in the price of meat could do away with all these terrible work conditions, why not? Why is it such a race to the absolute bottom?

    41. Martin Tirpák

why isnt this kind of work automated? I am from Europe and I was honestly thinking this episode will be about plastic used in packing meat (because obviously, meatpacking plants are heavily automated... right?)

    42. Kahrenheit

It’s wierd that now trumps gone outlets have to actually write to make content.

    43. Zobeth C

I’ve been screaming at the rooftops about this for long time, so thank you for this. The conditions in meat packing plants are HORRIFIC and COVID19 exposed this to the masses. Y’all think the coverup in NY by Cuomo and the nursing homes is bad, look at the crimes being committed and covered up at Meat Packing plants.

    44. Jennifer Webb

    66. MomChemist

The next time you go to the grocery store to buy boneless, skinless chicken breasts for $1.99/lb remember what it takes to make chicken that cheap. At that price, it’s insane to think that anyone in that food production chain can be treated well and still provide a profit to the company. I just wish I knew if the companies that sold their products for more were treating their workers better,.

    67. Martha Salomaa

Thank you, thank you, thank you for telling the truth!

    68. Lonnie Born

They fired the employees yet we are going to muster up some fake outrage anyways. What else do you want Jon Oliver?

    69. whenifeellow

the dude pissing under the conveyor belt... suspended! How about fired? Well, honestly he's not making anything much more worse than it already was. Destroys human health, destroys the earth, destroys animals needlessly. Animal agriculture is complete garbage. Go vegan.

    70. David Hammons

It's funny that I have actually heard about all of this from the knife problem to the pissing on the line. Apparently the urinating on the line thing was not due to performance needs but just the level of care they took with the food. It was just a case they didn't care and that was the level of employee they hired.

    71. MforMovesets

Maybe employ furries, webcomic artists and Deviant Artists, they love being in Diapers.

    72. David Hammons

I have heard so many stories of people pissing on meat production lines, especially hotdog's.

    73. goodgamegabi

Yes, "chicken chips" sounds gross, but what's even more gross is holocausting chickens every day to make "chicken chips".

    74. NecrontierLord

They should cut most of the jokes and have him slow down his delivery. His delivery is so breathless its just hard to listen to. The jokes are really bad, they are like Family guy, its just a formula, it doesn't feel creative at all.

    75. Juan Hernandez

The sick revolver adventitiously reply because stove adversely shiver besides a polite hurricane. busy, delightful frown

    76. William Jones

There were times in human history when people didn't know much about tooth care, or showering, or washing their hands after they take a shit. They weren't very healthy or long-lived during these times. You will never brush your teeth or wipe your ass into immortality, but still, we know for certain that cleaner living is smarter, healthier, and smells better. I've been vegan since 1995 and have worked online since 2012. I'm a Buddhist, and understand we are evolving, but the trouble you all put yourselves through is, to me, starting to look deserved.

    77. BlueNeuro

so, why does it take someone on HBO to talk about this shit? cuz i dont hear anything about this topic. i know problems come from unions, but this is just an argument to unionize if i ever heard one. i believe unions should be mandatory for any factory jobs if you're just a standard worker , this is just bat shit crazy.

    78. Corby Cobb

How did you not mention "The Jungle"?

    79. plump21

Kill capitalism before it kills us all.

    80. Maximilian Weiss

Seems crazy to me to talk about human rights when these companies actually kill millions of animals every day.

    81. Flint Ironstag

I see the issue being ultimately dealt with with technology. Computer controlled carving stations replacing workers seems like what will eventually happen. If minimum wages go up and regulations get tighter, these megacompanies will invest money to automate the process as much as possible.

    82. Francis Yawson

Democrats should be ashamed themselves for letting this happen to workers. Too much regulation means smaller companies are booted out of competing with bigger companies.

      1. Don'tSpikeMyDrink

        lol no

    83. Lance Ross

Really unusual this episode starts with John touching up on Cuomo's nursing home cover-up and procedure , meat packing, and Ted Cruz. Out of the 30 minute episode, 98% is about Ted Cruz and the meatpacking. John considers himself moral and a voice for the people. 28 minutes of covering partisan issues to his favoring where maybe 200 people died versus the Cuomo event where thousands died. Cuomo received 10 seconds of airtime. What a partisan hack that has a moral compass that needs to be reset.

    84. Alexander The Great

this show is basically a British guy demonstrating how capitalism is a horrible and inhumane social order for 20 minutes every week

    85. Peter A
